WIJ, organises together with çavaria, Steptoe, Accenture and BOAB Art Gallery, a second L-Expo: Women’s Art.
“Last year's success stimulated WIJ to create another time a platform to encourage LES-BI-TRANS artists to show their work. So, for the second time an inspiring collaboration takes place bringing together ladies who are starting their creative journey (and have not exhibited yet) and more experienced ladies artist" says Kat Van Nuffel from WIJ.
This year’s exhibition starts from another viewpoint though. "More women are actively engaged in Art and it is more accepted that women make Art, but get less attention and are less valued and are under-represented in museums and exhibitions.
BOAB Art Gallery recognizes this sensitive issue and hence proudly makes available their professional exhibition space for this initiative. The gallery also adds value to the exhibition with the work 'Cannibale' by Jacques Charlier, which uses humor to denounce sexism. "
Vernissage of the L-Expo is planned on both Thursday 11th and Friday 12th October evening, from 7:30 pm onwards. On both evenings, Johanna M. Pas, writer-poet and one of the artists, will read from her own work. On Friday, October 12th, Nathalie Delporte from Joe FM will inaugurate the exhibition. Drinks and finger food will be offered to the attendees.
The L-Expo runs from Thursday 11 October to Sunday 21 October at BOAB Art Gallery, Kloosterstraat 152, 2000 Antwerp.
